Kiwanis Club honors Steppin' It Up founder

Stacy Thurlow, founder of Steppin' It Up, was named Citizen of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction. The award recognizes a Mesa County resident who contributes to the community, with an emphasis on projects that benefit children.

We are all born with certain traits and abilities. And we are all free to use those qualities to succeed or not. We can choose during our life to “Step it up”.

Some people are not as fortunate as others. Some are born with “disabilities”. But they do not have to just live the life they were given. With help — they can also “Step it up”.

Steppin' It Up provides a multitude of programs in physical fitness, cooking, hygiene and living skills. And it emphasizes positive thinking, associating with others and having fun.

Stepping up to live life to the fullest based on your abilities.
